Learning Objectives for Module 2:
- Become familiar with the process of medical word building
- Be able to recognise other common medical terms
- Be able to utilise various homonyms
- Understand common medical abbreviations
- Become familiar with recognising and using medication terminology
- Understand and write medical terminology in medical notes.
This module covers the fundamentals of medical word building as a base for terminology and therefore documentation. It includes some mini-lectures, which should help to bring the content to life. Understanding the foundations of word building is vital, as it is the basis on which all other learning of medical terminology builds. Many of you will be familiar with these core concepts from previous study in your undergraduate or graduate courses. However, regardless of if it is new or familiar, take your time with this module. It will give you knowledge that will make the rest of the course easier.
