Learning Objectives for Module 5:
- Identify the function and structure of the musculoskeletal (MSK) system
- Know the skeletal and muscular anatomy with respect to bones, soft tissues, ligaments and tendons
- Know historical features of musculoskeletal issues, risk factors and symptoms
- Describe common disorders of the MSK system
- Understand common tests, procedures and treatment for MSK conditions
- Identify medications commonly prescribed for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions including injuries and wounds
- Write medical charts for patients presenting with musculoskeletal conditions and complaints
This is a very large module. It covers a great deal of information that is critical to your ability to understand the musculoskeletal system. Having studied anatomy or physiology before will be helpful but not vital to do well in this Module. Use your textbook and references available to get a more in depth appreciation for the myriad of musculoskeletal conditions with which you need to be familiar. Take your time studying the content and reviewing terms and abbreviations. This is the largest of all the Modules so keep that in mind and pace yourself.
