Introduction
After interviewing and examining the patient, the physician will often order specific blood tests or imaging to confirm or rule out an illness. This includes things like ECGs, urinalysis, FBC/eLFT/Coags and CRP, and medical imaging like an xray, CT scan or Ultrasound.
The scribe can order the tests as requested by the doctor, and help track down results as they become available. When results are available, it is very helpful if they are shown to the doctor who will then interpret them. The scribe then documents the results and interpretation in the chart. You'll need to stay on top of what has been ordered, keep your eye out for the results and bring it to the attention of the doctor ASAP.
